Fargo is North Dakota's largest city with roughly 133,000 residents, anchoring the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo metro of about 260,000. The construction market is exceptionally active for a city its size: NDSU, Sanford Health, and a steady in-migration of agricultural and tech workers have driven one of the most consistent multi-family pipelines in the Upper Midwest. Edge Enterprise has framed extensively here — 45th Street Apartments, EOLA Apartments, Oxbow Heights, and several other Fargo-metro multi-family builds with our long-time GC partner Comeland Builders. It is, in real terms, our home market.
Fargo sits in a 40 psf ground snow load zone with a 120 mph design wind speed — the higher wind number reflects the open-prairie exposure, and it changes the shear-wall and hold-down detailing on virtually every multi-family layout. We frame with that wind exposure baked in: heavier hold-downs at corners, additional drag strut connections at second-floor diaphragms, and engineered nailing patterns that satisfy both NDIBC and Cass County inspection. From Long Prairie that's about 3.25 hours via I-94, though many of our crews stage out of Horace, ND for week-long Fargo rotations. Cass County and the City of Fargo Building Inspections office are the primary AHJs.
